Details
'Listening' is an artistic and social project that promotes plurality and democratic values in a time of increasing authoritarian tendencies.
The focus is on listening: conversations with activists and thinkers in Cambodia will be conducted on site starting in 2026 and translated into live drawings. This analogue practice creates deceleration, opens up spaces for dialogue, and enables immediate encounters beyond social barriers.
The large-format newspaper also forms the basis for a wall newspaper, which serves as a central element of future exhibitions and continues the project in various locations. With 'Listening', Simona Koch and Lilla von Puttkamer are building an international network of activists, artists and thinkers who strengthen diversity, democratic participation and sustainable forms of expression.
The project starts in Cambodia in 2026 but is designed as an ongoing process that will be continued internationally and add new pages to the publication.
The project is funded by the Umverteilen Foundation, Berlin, and supported by the Meta House Phnom Penh Goethe Center.
The German artists Simona Koch and Lilla von Puttkamer have been collaborating on projects for many years.
Simona Koch is a visual artist, artistic researcher and book designer whose work focuses on the networks of living beings.
Lilla von Puttkamer works with drawing and painting in large-scale installations and performative collaborations. She explores everyday experiences and the interaction between humans and other organisms.
