Regional Salary Comparison
Cambodia: $9,000 – $16,000
Anchored by Phnom Penh’s flagship five-star inventory, the base is often supplemented by housing, schooling and an annual bonus for expatriate GMs.
Laos: $6,000 – $10,000
Smaller market with fewer large luxury assets; compensation tends to trail neighbours except where premium expatriate benefits are added.
Myanmar: $8,000 – $15,000
Packages for luxury properties frequently quote six-figure net annual deals, reflecting market complexity and hardship premiums.
Thailand: $11,000 – $18,000
Bangkok’s luxury segment and mature talent market push GM pay above most CLMV peers; higher annualised bases are common at the luxury end.
Vietnam: $10,000 – $16,000
Top-tier HCMC/Hanoi assets pay competitively, though typically a notch below Bangkok; national averages scale up at the luxury end.
