The Head of Program, Languages at the American University of Phnom Penh (AUPP) oversees the development and delivery of graduate-level and other language programmes.

The role ensures that all teaching and assessment meet high academic standards and align with the university’s vision for language excellence.

This position combines strategic leadership, academic quality management and the advancement of language learning in Cambodia and beyond.


Department/Function: Training & Organisational Development (Capacity Building, Coaching, Career Pathing)

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the language teaching team to promote excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure best practices in curriculum development, assessment and programme design.

  • Oversee academic policy implementation and compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.

  • Monitor and report on programme performance metrics, including feedback and outcomes.

  • Facilitate professional development and mentoring for teaching staff.

  • Manage administrative and quality assurance procedures for staffing and assessment.

  • Support collaboration, research and academic contributions within the language education community.


Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Postgraduate degree in language education, TESOL or applied linguistics.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in language programme coordination and leadership.

  • Proven ability to lead academic teams and drive curriculum innovation.

  • Experience managing language education programmes and enhancing student outcomes.

  • Strong background in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and international language examinations such as IELTS.

  • Proficiency with edtech systems and digital learning tools.

  • Excellent communication, mentoring and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
