Overview

Tonle Bassac, Phnom Penh

This internship opportunity at Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Cambodia provides a hands-on introduction to the operations of a German political foundation working in international cooperation, public policy and democratic governance.

Interns work alongside the programme team on key aspects of planning, organising and documenting events, workshops and publications.

The programme is open to both Cambodian and German nationals and is well-suited for university students or recent graduates with an interest in politics, international relations or development work. Internships are available throughout the year, typically for a duration of three to six months.


Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of conferences, seminars and public events.

  • Contribute to background research, literature reviews and briefings.

  • Draft reports, meeting summaries and English-language content for newsletters or social media.

  • Support the documentation and evaluation of programme activities.

  • Help with the translation of materials between English and Khmer or German.

  • Maintain contact lists and event registration records.

  • Attend and take notes at partner meetings, field visits and political events.

  • Assist in the creation and formatting of communications materials.

  • Support administrative tasks such as scheduling and logistical arrangements.

  • Engage in knowledge-sharing with peers and colleagues within the KAS network.


Eligibility

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in political science, international relations, law or a related field.

  • Demonstrated interest in public policy, governance or development cooperation.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural teamwork skills.

  • Organised, proactive and able to work independently on assigned tasks.

  • Familiarity with Cambodian political, social or economic issues is an asset.

  • Competency in MS Office applications, including Word and PowerPoint.

  • German and/or Khmer language ability is beneficial but not essential.

  • Available for a minimum commitment of 3 to 6 months.

  • Open to Cambodian and German nationals only.
