Regional Comparison
Cambodia: $3,000 – $4,500
Competitive within the local NGO market, supported by donor funding and demand for technically skilled WASH leaders with management capacity.
Laos: $2,500 – $4,000
Smaller programme scale and limited donor diversity generally moderate pay, though hardship and retention factors sustain senior-level compensation.
Myanmar: $2,000 – $3,500
Persistent political and economic uncertainty has constrained project funding, resulting in more conservative salary offers despite hardship allowances.
Thailand: $4,500 – $6,000
Bangkok-based NGO leadership roles attract higher compensation due to the international headquarters' presence, urban costs and competition for bilingual executives.
Vietnam: $4,000 – $6,500
Rapidly expanding development and social enterprise sectors drive strong demand for programme directors, particularly in WASH and climate-related fields.
